Little smokies in grape jelly is a finger-licking delicious recipe that will be a huge hit for your next game day, movie night, or game night. With 3 simple ingredients and only 5 minutes of prep time this easy recipe will be a fan favorite. The chili sauce and grape jelly give a rich, sweet, and tangy taste to this little smokies recipe.
Little smokies are the perfect snack for just about any party atmosphere. My mom always made grape jelly lil smokies, and I’ve added to our selection of cocktail sausage favorites with lil smokies pigs in a blanket using crescent roll dough or air fryer pigs in a blanket. These are great recipes that come together quickly, feed a crowd, and can be made with minimal ingredients.
Another crowd pleaser are these cute little charcuterie cups. I love that you can customize them based on the ingredients you already have. If you don’t want to take the time of puffing them in individual servings, you can spread it out like a normal grazing board.

Substitutions and Variations
- Crockpot grape jelly meatballs – try my crockpot grape jelly meatballs. These can be made with my homemade oven-baked meatballs recipe or frozen.
- Other varieties of cocktail sausages – Lit’l Smokies come in several different variations including original, turkey, all beef, and more. Any variety will work and tastes great.
- Spicy – add a dash of hot sauce, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, sriracha sauce, or diced jalapenos.
- Stove top – make this lil smokies recipe on the stove by adding all ingredients to a large pot. Cook until the sauce has thickened, and they are warmed through over medium low heat to medium heat. Stir often so the sauce does not scorch.
- Hot dogs – instead of cocktail wieners, dice up hotdogs.
- Barbecue sauce – Swap out chili sauce with your favorite bbq sauce like Sweet Baby Rays. Not sweet enough for you? Add a little brown sugar.
🔪 Instructions:
Step 1: Add grape jelly, chili sauce (or a cup of bbq sauce), and cocktail sausages to the crock pot.
Step 2: Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours. In the last hour, vent the lid so the sauce thickens. You can also cook on low for 5-6 hours.
Pro Tip: Use crockpot liners for easy clean up. Once the party is over, pull the liner out and toss in the trash, while keeping the inner pot spick and span.
SERVE: Let guests eat straight out of the pot by using toothpicks. Serve with your other favorite app recipes.
Recipe Tips for Crockpot Little Smokies
- Make serving simple by using tooth picks or cocktail forks.
- For a less sweet sauce, cut the grape jelly in half. There will still be plenty of sauce.
- This simple recipe is perfect throughout football season and we always have it on our Super Bowl menu or for family potlucks because you can just dump everything in and it’s ready in a couple of hours.
- Stir every 15-20 minutes to make sure the sauce isn’t burning since all slow cookers cook a little bit differently.
- You can keep the slow cooker on the warm setting or low while serving to keep the smokies warm and toasty.
