There’s nothing more refreshing than an ice-cold frozen peach margarita on a hot summer day! Made from sweet ripe peaches, fresh lime juice, and a splash of peach juice, this tequila margarita will hit the spot.

I prefer making this peach margarita recipe over a restaurant or classic margarita any day. The touch of sweetness and taking advantage of peach season are big perks for mixing my summer cocktail.
Today I’m going to show you how to make frozen peach margaritas using frozen or fresh peaches, along with the best tequila and a couple of variations that you can experiment with. Spoiler alert, one of the secrets to this cocktail is my homemade simple syrup! Feel free to use it in other cocktails and then add it to my classic mojito or this mint margarita!

Optional Garnish:
- Lime Zest: Sprinkle a little lime zest on top of the cocktail to add a burst of citrus aroma. You can swap the lime wedge for the zest or do both!
- Peach Schnapps Soaked Peach: For an extra boost of peach flavor, soak a peach slice in a small amount of peach schnapps and use it as a garnish.
- Edible Flowers: Edible flowers like pansies, violas, or nasturtiums can add a touch of elegance and color to your peach margarita.
- Mint Sprigs: Fresh mint leaves add a touch of freshness and aromatic flair to the cocktail.
Substitutions and Variations
- Sugar Rim: For those who prefer a sweeter touch, rim the glass with sugar, either plain or mixed with a pinch of ground cinnamon.
- Tajin rim: If you like a spicy peach margarita, dip the rim of the glass in tajin or a combination of tajin and coarse salt.
- You can add peach schnapps if desired, use 1 ounce for every 2 serving recipe.
- If you don’t have peach juice you can use orange juice or apple juice, though it may taste a little different. The peach juice adds so much of the peach flavor to these margaritas, so really try to include it in this recipe.
- Fresh peach puree is a good alternative to the frozen peaches. During peach season, you might even puree a bunch of peaches and freeze in ice cube trays. Then, you’ll have sweet fruit on hand for peach smoothies and easy peach margaritas.
🔪 Instructions:
PREP: Chill your glasses in the freezer for at least 15 minutes so they are extra cold – this will keep your blended drink icy cold for as long as possible.

Step 1: Prep your chilled glasses first so they’re ready to pour the blended drink straight into. Run a lime or a bit of simple syrup around the rim of a margarita glass to moisten.

Step 2: Place your margarita salt in a shallow dish and tip the glass to dip the rim into the salt. Set the glass back in the freezer.
Pro Tip: Choosing The Tequila
Let me preface by saying I am not a tequila connoisseur. However, when you are making mixed drinks, and in this case fruity margaritas, you don’t have to use the highest grade tequila. The reason is that the other ingredients overpower the taste. Patron Silver is a mid-grade tequila that hasn’t been aged that is suitable for margaritas.
If you wanted to sip tequila on the rocks I would say go for a reposado or anejo variety.
That being said, it’s best to use a clear tequila (sorry, no Jose!) for the best-tasting margaritas regardless of how much experience you have with mixing. We used a higher quality 1800 for this recipe. They also make an 1800 peach tequila that would be amazing for this frozen peach margarita.

Step 3: Add frozen peaches to the blender. Frozen peaches will keep the margarita in a slushie state for longer, but we’re also using ice, so if you want to just toss in fresh peaches and not wait for them to freeze, that’s fine.

Step 4: Add the peach juice, lime juice, simple syrup, and tequila to the blender. Using a high-powered blender like a Vitamix will produce the best results.

Step 6: Add the ice to the blender last and then blend until smooth.

Step 7: Divide the frosty margarita between the two glasses and garnish with lime wedges and maybe even a peach slice or two! Enjoy responsibly.

Recipe Tips
- For a sweet taste, rim the glasses with coarse sugar.
- Frozen peach margaritas are best when served immediately from the blender. If you want margaritas on the rocks, you can double or triple the recipe and keep it chilled in the fridge. Don’t add ice until you are ready to serve so the peach margaritas aren’t watered down.
- If fresh ripe peaches are available, use those. They have more flavor than frozen. To use fresh peaches: pit, peel, and slice them. Then place the peaches in the freezer in a single layer until frozen.

Recipe FAQs
Combine the peach margarita recipe ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake for a couple of seconds.
Fill a chilled rocks glass with a few ice cubes, and strain the margaritas into the glass. You can put a float of Peach Schnapps or an orange liqueur like Grand Marnier or Triple Sec, on top of fresh peach margaritas.
