Hey! So I love, love a good holiday weekend. Every time a three-day weekend comes around, the hubby and I look at each other and say, “So what are we painting?” This time, it’s Olivia’s bedroom. Progress is coming right along – I’m hoping we can maintain steam and get the project done! Anyhow, I wanted to pop in real quick today because there is something super cool coming out…TODAY!! It’s a new eMagazine featuring children’s sewing patterns and fashion – it’s called STYLO.
Jessica Abbott and Celina Bailey are the creators behind the eMagazine. I got to take part in a fun challenge for this first issue. I, along with several other bloggers, was given some of the absolutely drool-worthy “Glitz Dots” in Mist by Michael Miller Fabrics. Our only instruction was to make something for children. Although I’d typically think of sewing clothes, we were smack in the middle of Nutcracker rehearsals and I had been thinking of sewing dance bags for the girls. When I saw the metallic polka dots on this fabric, I figured it was destined to become a quilted dance bag.
Guys, I love how this bag turned out SO much. I quilted it with metallic gold thread and found this amazing gold strapping to add for handles. It’s positively gorgeous. I might have kept it for myself if the girls didn’t know upfront I was making them a dance bag. It turned out so great, in fact, that I’m in the process of putting together a pattern for the duffel bag and it will be available very soon – fingers crossed.
I can’t wait to see what the other ladies made with this same fabric AND I’ve got to check out the rest of what this eMagazine is all about – it sounds like it could be really inspirational! Click here to check out the STYLO website!
Enjoy your Monday!!
