I love making homemade salad dressings, not only is it cheaper than the grocery store but you know the exact ingredients going in and you can adjust to your liking, unlike store-bought salad dressing. This creamy dressing is fantastic on a chopped chicken salad, tacos salads, drizzled over burrito bowls, and even makes a tasty dipping sauce.
One of my most favorite homemade dressings is my Copycat Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Recipe. I mean we go through this stuff like crazy, so I like being able to make a batch on the fly if I need to and always keep the ingredients for Simple Ranch Seasoning Packet Recipe in the cupboard. Making spice blends at home is a another great way to save a little cash.

🍋 Ingredients:
- fresh lime juice – use fresh lime juice rather than the canned variety. If you have an excess of limes during peak season, juice them and freeze in ice cube trays for easy storage and use when limes are less readily available.
- plain Greek yogurt – we recommend one with a little higher fat.
- mayonnaise – do not substitute Miracle whip, as it is not the same.
- fresh cilantro
- honey – add more or less to taste. Maple syrup could be used as well.
- black pepper and kosher salt – to taste

Use homemade cilantro lime dressing on taco salads, grain bowls, as a dip with fresh vegetables, or to garnish just about any of your favorite meals.
Substitutions and Variations
- Sauce: to use this recipe as a thicker cilantro lime yogurt sauce avoid thinning it out too much, or add a little avocado.
- Thinner: for a little thinner dressing, add a splash of water and mix or reduce the mayonnaise. You can also do this after it has been stored.
- Sour cream: could use in place of regular greek yogurt.
- Cilantro lime vinaigrette: omit the yogurt and mayo, replace with a little less than ½ cup of olive oil or avocado oil to make this cilantro-lime dressing more of a vinaigrette
- Garlic: use minced fresh garlic cloves or garlic powder to fit your own tastes.
- Sweeter: Add a little more honey.
🔪 Instructions:
Step 1: In a blender or food processor, add all of the ingredients and pulse until desired consistency.
Pro Tip: Using the freshest ingredients will yield the best flavor.
SERVE: Use this dressing in your salads, as a dipping sauce, or on meats and veggies.
Recipe tips for Cilantro Lime Yogurt Dressing
- An immersion blender or food processor can also be used to mix the ingredients. I like to use my small Ninja blender to mix up recipes that have fewer ingredients.
- After washing, pat the cilantro dry before using. The leftover water can cause the creamy sauce to be much thinner.
