This orange basil infused water is bursting with refreshing flavor. The bright citrus meddled with rustic basil might seem an odd combination, but it is the most refreshingly perfect medley. This infused water is tasty and full of health benefits.
I love to drink fruit infused water for weight loss, to stay hydrated, and simply because it tastes wonderful. Orange, lemon, and basil provide heart health, anti-inflammatory properties, and a boost to the immune system. Of course, these same benefits apply to my favorite gin smash cocktail so whip up one of those if you love this combination as much as I do.
Since the fruit and herbs soak in the water all day, I really prefer to use home-grown produce, but if you don’t have access to lemons, oranges, and basil, do choose organic produce so you don’t have chemicals soaking into your water all day.
Alright, whether you’re looking for a little change-up to your daily water intake or you’re setting up some “fancy” water for guests, here’s one of my favorite combos to flavor water. Try this, it’s refreshing and sweet and just a great way to drink your water.
Orange Basil Infused Water
1 orange, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
2-3 stems of fresh basil sprigs
Instructions: Wash and slice the orange and lemon. Place fruits and herbs in the bottom of a pitcher. Use a long wooden spoon to mash the fruits gently, just enough to get the juices ready to meddle with the water. Fill the pitcher with ice and water. Drink up!
I fill a pitcher for myself in the morning and drink it throughout the day. By evening, the water starts tasting bitter from the citrus rind, but it is delicious throughout the whole day. One thing I know about weight loss is that you must get your water in every single day. I like to use the formula – ½ your body weight in ounces – as an easy way to remember how much water I should be drinking every day to facilitate my weight loss goals.

I totally need to loss weight. After W I lost all but 8 pounds of the baby weight. I then proceeded to gain it all back after his 1st birthday. And then some. I had a lot of success losing while I was dairy & gluten free. I should go back but grilled cheese is my weakness. I have no will power. Maybe I’ll be inspired to go back ti it if you share lots of yummy recipes. 😉
Also, I totally need to get to Trader Joe’s and pick up some basil plants for my garden. They have the prettiest plants there!

Aloha Stef! How are you? This looks refreshing. I’ve sliced oranges and added fresh mint to the water. Mint is a great palate cleanser, and it promotes digestion. Have a awesome weekend!

Aloha, Queenie! I don’t think I’ve tried orange and mint, but that sounds wonderful! Will add it to my repertoire!
