Smoothies are a regular part of our family’s meal repertoire. The kids love smoothies because they’re sweet and cold and I love smoothies because they’re a great way to pack fruit, vegetables, and protein into one lovely cup! I use a plain yogurt for my source of protein – sometimes, I make my own yogurt and ferment it for 24 hours if I need to eliminate the lactose from my diet. The creaminess and tang from the yogurt always provide a good base. From there, the sky is the limit as to what we might add – berries, bananas, and kale or spinach are common ingredients. Whether our smoothies are mostly fruit or also incorporate veggies, we always like them sweet! I typically add a Stevia sweetener to my smoothies – I find it adds the perfect amount of sweetness without the calories! Today’s Raspberry Zing™ Smoothie combines the tartness and tang of raspberries and orange juice with the creaminess of Greek yogurt for a refreshing burst of flavor! I had the chance to try out Born Sweet™ Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener and it delivered just the right amount of sweetness for this flavor combination. Zing™ is made with stevia leaf extract which provides a delicious sweet taste without any calories. Made with only real ingredients – nothing artificial, I feel comfortable feeding Zing™ to my kiddos and using it regularly. For this smoothie, one packet was great with the fresh squeezed orange juice – adjust as needed for your specific fruits and juice! And don’t forget that you can add Zing™ to any of your favorite beverages to provide some zero-calorie sweetness.
