I’ve been a little under the weather, so while we’re waiting for me to organize those toadstool how-to pictures, I thought we could look at this little owl print dress.

Last fall, I picked up an owl print corduroy and stitched up a dress, which flew out of the shop almost immediately, as did the other few I made with the remaining fabric. Owls are all the rage now, yes? So, I’ve been on the lookout for another owl print fabric and I recently found this one by Robert Kaufman that made me happy. The finished dress is a spin off your basic peasant-style dress, with finished armholes and a ruffle all the way around the neckline, which creates little ruffled cap sleeves.

I also like the chunky bottom border in the coordinating polka dot. I’m pretty convinced, actually, that you could put polka dots on just about anything, and I’d like it.

First of all, I have to agree with you that polka dots go with everything 🙂
I sew for an organization called Dress a Girl around the world. Since it is impossible for me to just sew plain little pillowslip dresses, I am constantly experimenting with other ideas for dresses. This cute little dress is one I have made often in the past year. So simple and cute.

Just wondering if there are any updates on a tutorial for this gorgeous dress…

Funny you should ask, Teegan, I haven’t made one in a few years, but…I just got a pattern to review and I’m going to convert it into this style – look for a tutorial here in a month or so.
