This easy apple dump cake recipe with cream cheese is made with 6 simple ingredients, has all of the flavors of traditional apple pie without the hassle, and is ready in just 1 hour.
Spread the apple pie filling into the bottom of a 9”x13” baking dish.
In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer to combine cream cheese, egg, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the apple filling.
Sprinkle the cake mix evenly over first two layers.
Grate butter on a box grater or slice very thin pats of butter and spread over the entire top of the dry cake mix. Cover as much of the cake mix as possible. Hint: cold butter is much easier to work with than softer butter.
Bake for 40 minutes or until the topping is browned and the apple filling is bubbling around the edges. If needed during the last few minutes of baking, add additional butter to any areas where there is dry cake mix and bake a bit longer.
Allow dump cake to rest for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes
Storage:Keep leftover cake in an airtight container or cover the cake pan with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 1 month. To freeze, wrap tightly in plastic wrap for 1 month. Thaw in the fridge, then reheat to serve. Notes: We let the cake rest so the filling and cheesecake sets up so it isn't runny when serving. This simple dessert is delicious warm or cold.Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream or caramel sauce. If desired, add ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the apple pie filling. To get the best coverage using the least amount of butter, grate it with a box grater. You may still end up with dry spots, that's okay. You can also drizzle melted butter in those areas in the last minutes of baking.
