Ingredients needed

– 1 box Party Rainbow Chip cake mix prepared according to package directions (Funfetti cake mix can also be used) – 2 3.4-ounce packages of vanilla instant pudding & pie filling mix – 4 cups milk – Blue & pink food coloring – 1 16-ounce container whipped topping, thawed – Green pink, and blue edible candy grass – Easter egg candies for decorating I used Whoppers Robin Eggs

Line a baking pan with parchment paper. Prepare the cake mix according to the instructions on the package, pour the batter into the pan, and bake. Let it cool on a wire rack completely.

Step 1:

Once the cake has cooled, slice it into one inch cubes using a serrated knife.

Step 2:

Make each batch of pudding in separate bowls and follow the instructions on the box.

Step 3:

Add a few drops of blue food coloring to one pudding bowl, then a couple of drops of pink to the other. Whisk and continue adding until it’s the color you want it. Only add a few drops at a time because the color can change quickly.

Step 4:

Place as many cake cubes that will fit in a single tight layer in the trifle dish.

Step 5:

Scrape the blue pudding onto the cake layer, smoothing it with a spatula if needed.

Step 6:

Spoon in two cups of Cool Whip (or whipped topping of choice) over the pudding.

Step 7:

Repeat the layers, adding the cake cubes, followed by the pink pudding, then two more cups of whipped topping.

Step 8:

Refrigerate the trifle for at least 4 hours.

Step 9:

Hold a 1/2 thick group of edible candy grass and twist it into a circle starting at one end. Make 2 nests of each color.

Step 10:

Top the trifle with the nests and add 3 candy eggs to each one.

Step 11:

Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
