Two years ago, I sewed quiet books for my girls and my niece for Christmas. It was quite an undertaking, but well worth the results. I did a very brief post about the books back then, which you can read here if you like. After a little push from a dear reader, I have decided to do a quiet book sew along this holiday season for anyone who would like to make a special keepsake for their little girl. I’ve been putting in some hours making a new version of the quiet books, with a consistent color scheme throughout. It’s a shabby chic-ish look and very sweet. I promise that I will work on a boy version someday, but it’s just not going to happen this year.
The sew along will begin December 9 and we will make a cloth book with six activities including hair braiding, snapping flowers, a velcro laundry line, and paper dolls. I am offering a limited number of quiet book kits for sale that will include all the materials and patterns to follow along and assemble one complete quiet book. I will also offer a pdf download for my original shape patterns only. You can definitely follow along without the kit or patterns and make your own shapes. There is one spread with fabric paper dolls that require that particular fabric; the remaining activities could be done with any fabric you choose.
I’m excited to share my version of this keepsake with you and I hope you’ll join me making this timeless gift! So….who’s in?
Updated 6/1/12: Kits and pdf patterns are currently available for purchase. Please email Stef at girlinspired@yahoo.com. Kits are $50 + shipping. PDF patterns are $6. Thank you!

I am so excited to make this lovely book! I also made quiet books many years ago for my little girls and am planning this one for a future granddaughter. Are the dolls and doll fabric included? If not, is there a possibility of purchasing (as mentioned in an earlier post)? Thanks so much for sharing with us. I have just recently happened on your blog and I love all of your creative ideas.

Is the pdf download included with the kit?
Stef says
toots! The kits contain the pages and batting, both cut to size, and the fabric and templates to cut the “applique” – type pieces. Also, the buttons, snaps, ric rac, ribbon, yarn, lace, etc. to complete each page. Interfacing and fusible web also included. Cut letters for child’s name will also be supplied.

Do the kits contain the cut pieces or the fabric to cut ourselves? Thanks!

Shellebelle,I will try to hunt down a link to the fabric, but it has been discontinued for a couple years. I’ll look and post if I find it. Let me know, if you just want enough to do your quiet book(s), I can sell you just the dolls and clothes you’ll need.

I would love to purchase the paper dolls and clothes if any are still available!! I would like two sets, as I have two daughters that will surely want their very own 🙂 Please let me know either way so that I can stop hunting down this illusive fabric. Lol

Looks so beautiful, I have to make one! I’ll be sewing along too. Can we purchase the paper doll fabric somewhere?
