Are you as obsessed with the gold trend as I am? I can’t get enough. I’m not usually one to get wrapped up in the trends, and little more than a year ago, I couldn’t care less about gold. But, suddenly, gold is everywhere and I LOVE it. So I decided to add some more gold to my decor.
It started with glittering the heck out of some resin deer during the holidays and has continued with this makeover for some pictures in my house. You can make a glitter mat board for picture frames with just a couple supplies.
You will need:
colored Glitter (might I suggest gold)
mat board
Mod Podge/thinned white glue
2-3″ foam paint brush
clear gloss spray paint (I used Rust-o-leum)
Step 1: Coat the mat board with an even, thick coat of Mod Podge or glue.
Step 2: Sprinkle generously with glitter; shake off excess. Allow to dry.
Step 3: Spray to seal glitter with a coat of clear gloss spray paint. Allow to dry.
Step 4: Reassemble the picture frame with your new gorgeous glitter mat board!!
It couldn’t be easier and the results are spectacularly fun! You could do a big huge mat board for a showcase picture. Or how great would these be on display at a wedding or shower? And I know my girls would love a picture frame in there room with a little blue or pink glitter. Ahhhh! So many possibilities! Have fun!

Great idea! Love it! Just one question…..do your frames use glass? I’m wondering if the glass will still fit. Thanks! 🙂
