Pettiskirt. Check!
Didn’t know I was going to make a pettiskirt for the birthday girl, but one minute I was browsing Pinterest (you know how that goes) and next thing I knew, it became an absolute necessity for Addie’s birthday party.
Okay! Back to the list of to-dos. Why do I get so sidetracked? It’s because I plan too far in advance. Every day, I just keep adding to the “it would be really cool to do such-and-such” list. Seriously! I have a problem. I get an idea stuck in my head and think I just can’t possibly NOT do it. Then, come the couple days before the party, I absolutely, totally, 100% FREAK OUT that I won’t be able to pull it together. But, somehow, it works out. And please note that the “somehow” always involves my husband, my mom, and my sister doing WAY more than they signed up for. I’m so lucky to have them support me in my episodes of full-blown insanity!
So tell me, How do YOU plan parties? Are you calm and organized? Do you wait until the day before? Do you let someone else do the planning? Do you plan out every detail and execute it exactly as planned? Who helps you? Do you get a little crazed like me??

Gorgeous pettiskirt!! I had to laugh, as this is exactly how I have approached planning our wedding… I’ve been adding cool ideas to my list for over a year, and am now freaking out that I’m not going to get any of them done! It’s so much fun planning though 🙂

You’ll get it done, Alice!! Awwww, wedding planning. If I had had Pinterest when I was planning my wedding, it would have been catastrophic. haha. Good luck to you and congratulations!

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who goes into total freak mode. My husband is a huge help when it comes to matters such as this.

Can you share where you got your pattern for the pettiskirt. I have a two year old “wannabe” ballerina that would love to twirl in such a cute skirt!!!!

Annelies – I didn’t use a pattern, but I did take some pictures along the way. I’ll put up a tutorial soon!

Sounds like a page out of my book!! I start out calm and organized with a list even. By the end everything gets nutty. More is more!!

Yes, lists are very very good. Except when you add things faster than you can check them off!

It all depends on who I am having over. If it is just my immediate family, I tend to be more relaxed. But other than them, I totally freak out and do WAY too much stuff for a party. Pinterest hasn’t helped that problem either. Yeah, can you imagine getting married this day and age now that we have pinterest? Yikes, that has to be dangerous.

It’s like I could have written this post! I seem to always add “one more thing” and end up starting a sewing project at 11pm the night before the party! Your parties are always awesome, can’t wait to see photos!

I am EXACTLY like you! I can’t stop myself. I know my kids don’t even really care – they would probably be happy just to have friends over, eat cake and open some presents. But, I love it. I am my own worst enemy because I always have way more ideas than I ever have time for. 🙂

I pretty much plan my parties just like you. All year long though, I keep a bookmark on my web browser just for party ideas. This way, I always have a bunch of great ideas to work from. After that comes mayhem!

So happy to hear I’m not the only one who goes crazy the last couple days, why do we do it to ourselves? Looking forward to all the party details, I know it will be adorable!!

I’m exactly the same way! Somehow, my hubby, mom and sister always feel like they’re not sure what they got themselves into. But, the parties always turn out great!

I go absolutely crazy. I’m much like you in the sense that an idea will get stuck in my head, and it will seem like a failure if it DOESN’T get added in. I don’t have kids to plan parties for (yet), but I design costumes in my spare time, and its a delicate balance to not over-design. I always have a new idea that I want to try! And I’m constantly making add-ons the night before the costume is needed. My poor fiance has had to drive me to the 24-hour Wal-Mart on more than one occasion, lol.
