Wow. I know. I disappeared. The Christmas projects kind of took over the last eight weeks, and then Gracie’s birthday party, too, kept the holiday chaos going strong. Until now. I do love the crazy, but it’s nice to breathe again.
I love January. Once the Christmas boxes are tucked safely away and the to-do lists are either completed or tossed away, I can pull out a clean notebook and start new lists, reprioritize goals for the new year.
I loved switching gears from Christmas to Gracie’s second birthday party. I kept it simple – a nacho bar for the adults, pb&j for the kiddos, and of course, CAKE! I did Gracie’s cake the same as Livi’s 2nd birthday cake, different colors, though. And since I didn’t make invitations this time, I got my paper and ribbon fix by constructing the cutest party hat. She even wore it! Since her party was the Saturday after her actual birthday, we had cupcakes for our little family celebration. To make it extra fun, I added some quick cupcake toppers – this took about 3 minutes total, for 8 or so toppers. Punch out eight scalloped circles from heavyweight cardstock to make the bases; hot glue to 8 lollipop sticks. Next, cut eight strips of ribbon or 2-inch wide tulle. Tie each strip into a knot and hot glue to the center of each scalloped circle. Easy-peasy!
