The Laundry Deal- Tide PODS Review & Sweepstakes

As a mom of three girly girls, you already know my days are surrounded by dollies and dance performances, and you already know that I spend my “free time” sewing and baking, but have we ever discussed my laundry pile? NO? That’s because it’s a nightmare. Along with the sugar and spice I’ve got going on, I also have three girls who like to change their clothes….a lot! As soon as I get the clothes hung up or put away in their drawers, I walk back through their room, and there’s a new heap of clothes. They bat their little eyelashes and promise to put away the clothes they’ve just changed into…for the tenth time today… And then the dog makes a comfy bed out of the pile of clothes and the cats find fluffy, little socks to drag through the house, and the clothes have to go back into the overflowing laundry basket. That’s the way it goes. Sometimes I get overwhelmed and the voice in my head screams, “I can’t catch up!” And sometimes, I just ignore the piles and close myself in my sewing room, and contemplate if I’m a success as a housekeeper/mother if I just sew up something for the girls to wear instead of battling another load of laundry. In addition, we are on the go so often during the week. Sprinting between school drop-offs and pick-ups, gymnastics, the grocery store, the fabric store, playdates…I don’t have time to be digging through clothes that are stained or dingy. I want to be able to throw on my outfit and stand out looking fresh and “together” throughout the day. When I get home, I want to spend as little time doing the laundry as possible. When I was introduced to Tide Pods laundry detergent, I was excited by the prospects of a little something new to curb my bad laundry habits and help to keep my clothes stand out clean and bright! Tide Pods have been easy to use, with their 3-in-1 cleaning power– they clean, brighten, and fight stains all with one squishy packet. I just pop the packet into the washing machine basin along with the clothes and hit go on my machine. They’re quick and efficient to use, without needing to pre-treat my stains or worry about all the dripping from a pourable detergent.

It’s also nice to have a brightener included in the detergent, particularly given the number of times I rewash the same clothes (dirty or not!) Tide Pods leave our clothes clean and smelling fresh. I also have to admit that the detergent pac is super fun to squish when I pop it in the machine! Even my husband seems to have picked up a newfound burst of laundry-washing motivation! We’ve got a lot of years of laundry ahead of us, a lot of years of dress-up (every five minutes), and a lot of years of dressing for on-the-go; it’s nice to know there’s a detergent working to make our clothes stand-out ready when they come out of the machine.

I feel like I stand out when I wear my 3 inch tall boots (I’m 5’9″ in my bare feet), black leggings, and top with a sweatheart neckline.

I made a lime green jacket that I wear with black pants and a black shirt that I think is one of my best outfits. Either that or my new safety yellow sweatshirt that I had embroidered. No one will lose me in the crowd.

Not a sweepstakes entry, just some advice from someone who’s been in your shoes. When my kids were little and our laundry got out of control, my girlfriends and I would plan a “Girls’ Night Out” at the laundromat. We all had washing machines at home, but it can take hours to get through all of the backed logged laundry. At the laundromat you can do 8 loads of wash at once. We’d all bring snacks and our wash. We’d play cards or just chat until it came time to fold everything down. Then we’d all pitch in until all of the wash was folded down or on hangers. Much faster to fold sheets when you have two people. Sure, it cost us money, but no more than if we had all gone to a movie, we had a lot of fun, and we could see the bottom of the clothes hamper, even if only for a couple of hours. Now that we’re only two of us, the laundry stays done, but I sort of miss the “wild nights” at the Superwash.

A favorite outfit of mine (at least for fall) is a good pair of skinny jeans + pretty leather boots + simple top + scarf. Simple but stylish!

I like to stand out by wearing pink or purple t-shirts or sweaters because they are brighter than my usual wardrobe, and I usually just pair them with dark jeans.

I love to stand out in a ruffly poet’s shirt and a patterned gypsy skirt. Something with purple and black, touches of gold and green.

I don’t like to stand out. My favorite outfit is something that helps me fade into the background. I’m very happy in my jeans or yoga pants and nursing tank. Almost everything I own is grey, black, dark blue, dark green or brown.

I do love when my 3 year old dresses herself. I don’t have the confidence to pull of a hot pink shirt(worn backwards), green leggings, a rainbow tutu, mismatched socks, red legwarmers & shoes on the wrong feet but she rocks it.

White shirt, dark blue jeans, black blazer and I add a pop with bold statement jewelry or funky shoes!

My clothes are very basic: lots of olive and gray pants with chocolate and black t-shirts. What I use to stand out is my accessories. I am a sucker for indie artsy handmade jewelry. I chunky necklace or some sparkly dangle earrings are what stand out about my outfits. Throw on a hand knitted cap with cat ears and I am set to go!

The outfit doesn’t matter nearly as much as the jewelry. I find if I wear a pretty necklace or earrings I feel confident and happy. As long as my clothes are neat and clean I think the accessories make an outfit stand out more than anything else.
